This would be great for employers to have the option in the project wizard of setting a date where the project closes automatically at a specified date to ensure it is not open long after they are seeking new projects.

Not complete exactly as requested, but improvements made to address the root issue: project is closed automatically at 60 days of inactivity (50 day warning); prompt to close project on request acceptance; prompt to access project to keep it open before it closes automatically.

It'd be also great if during the project wizard they'd HAVE TO put a number of matches for that project so the project page would close once that number is reached similar to what we have for the experiences. We have way too many projects on the platform open that should be closed, and finding a way to make this process less manual would be the dream!
