A school I work with reports on the majority ownership of the employers their educators work with as part of their DEI plan.
We currently don't have any way to know the leadership of our businesses on our marketplace. It might be helpful to be able to see the representation our employer database is.
We could also create a public facing symbol to highlight Black, Indigenous, or Women led businesses. This would be helpful for educators who wish to support Black, Indigenous, or Women led businesses.

While not identical to what was proposed here, we are launching the "Causes" tag on projects in Riipen 2.0 which will let employers (or Riipen admins) tag projects that support certain goals such as EDI and use these to promote those projects in the marketplace or offline.

TRU's DM -Larry Iles - was saying a big focus of TRU at the moment is indigenization (as is the case for many other institutions). If this is also a focus for Riipen (which i'd say we are focusing on), he said it would be incredibly helpful if we could have a searchable category of "indigenous owned business" and "indigenous studies".
He said it would make a huge difference for their indigenous students to see representation on our platform and also more focus of projects tailored towards supporting indigenous students and to make it easily searchable for educators

That's a great question, and not one I have an answer too.
My thought would be that the badge would be applied if the employer self-declares as one of these equity seeking groups. It would be difficult for Riipen to confirm/enforce. Perhaps if they click a box to self declare, before the badge is confirmed, an email is sent to the user to confirm they verify that this badge accurately represents their identity?

Interesting! Would people imagine these sorts of badges would be self-regulating? Or were people wanting it to be something applied on Riipen's side?
