Update Default Setting for "Student Member Settings" in New Experiences

Looking at changing the default setting for new experiences to have the "student member settings" toggled off. Currently, these settings are enabled by default, which doesn't align with how most educators use the platform.
In my experience, educators often only use the wizard to set up their experiences (not getting into the settings details) and are typically either not adding students at all or importing their learners. As a result, the "student member settings" feature being toggled on is usually unnecessary for the majority of experiences and creates confusion.
Additionally, we receive a decent amount of tickets from students via Avocado who find experiences from the marketplace that they’re interested in and ask our team (PPD) for access codes/tokens. These experiences are generally set up to be accessed by educator invitation/import only, leaving students who are not in a PPD program or a classroom that uses Riipen confused on how to secure a project. This default setting change would reduce confusion for both students and educators, and reduce intercom traffic for our team.

Ola Olszewski We're hesitant to turn off access codes by default because it is currently the lowest-effort option for educators to copy-paste the instructions for students and add them to their LMS. It's not the most common but it is the most self-serve. I'm seeing if we could find out the numbers to make a more informed decision. Would an ok alternative be to have clearer warnings on the access code input screen to explain to the learner that this is only intended for students in the given program?

Emily Masching Thanks Emily. Would also love to see data about usage here - I asked Ollie as well.
Yeah, aligned that clearer warning signs can also work. Something along the lines of "This experience is for students in a specific course. If you're part of it, your educator or administrator will provide the access token."

Ola Olszewski Ollie's working on that data request and Barkha is working on some copy for that screen to "warn off" students who shouldn't be there. We'll keep you posted.
